Did you know that India is becoming the diabetes capital of the world? Known as Madhumeha in Ayurveda, diabetes has become one of the most urgent health challenges, especially in India. This World Diabetes Day, let’s raise awareness about diabetes—its root causes, the post-COVID rise in cases, and the preventive lifestyle changes that Baidha Shree recommends for balanced health.

Diabetes often stems from an imbalance in the body’s metabolism, exacerbated by modern sedentary lifestyles, processed diets, and high-stress levels. In Ayurveda, diabetes results from an imbalance in the Kapha and Pitta doshas, which disrupts the body’s natural insulin function. These doshas impact energy flow and digestive processes, which, when disturbed, lead to metabolic issues like diabetes. This doshic imbalance is often worsened by Ama (toxins) from poor digestion, further impairing the body’s natural blood sugar regulation.

World Diabetes Day

With over 77 million cases, India has become a significant hub for diabetes, largely due to rapid urbanisation and lifestyle shifts. High-calorie diets, reduced physical activity, and genetic predispositions have contributed to this surge, making type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes common occurrences. Adding to this challenge, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly worsened diabetes rates. During lockdowns, limited movement, increased stress, and the lingering effects of COVID-19 weakened immune systems, complicating diabetes management and elevating average blood sugar levels across all age groups.

Adopting a proactive lifestyle remains one of the best defences against diabetes. A balanced diet, daily exercise, and stress management are powerful tools for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Baidha Shree recommends focusing on whole foods and natural fibres while reducing sugar and processed foods to prevent blood sugar spikes. Regular yoga, brisk walking, or light jogging can improve insulin sensitivity and support healthy glucose levels. Stress management is crucial, as high stress can raise blood sugar; hence, incorporating Pranayama and meditation can greatly support mental and physical health.

For those at risk or already managing diabetes, Baidha Shree offers natural remedies to support stable blood glucose. Herbs like Methi (fenugreek), Karela (bitter gourd), and Gudmar (Gymnema) are known for their ability to help control blood sugar. Fenugreek seeds, for example, are rich in soluble fibre, which slows carbohydrate absorption, helping regulate blood sugar levels after eating. Bitter gourd has insulin-like properties, and gymnema is often called the “sugar destroyer” because it reduces sugar absorption. Ayurvedic Vaidyas also recommend following Dinacharya (daily routine), which involves consistent meal times, mindful eating, and good sleep habits for balanced glucose levels.

For those seeking a deeper reset, Saptakarma offers detoxifying treatments to aid diabetes management by removing toxins and balancing the doshas. Therapies like Virechana (therapeutic purgation) and Basti (medicated enema) aim to remove toxins from the body and balance the doshas. These treatments can help reduce complications and improve the body’s metabolic response. Ayurveda, known as the best Saptakarma centre in Delhi, provides structured therapies under expert guidance, helping patients achieve greater metabolic stability.

As diabetes affects more lives, adopting Ayurvedic practices can pave the path to both prevention and long-term diabetes management. This World Diabetes Day, let us take small steps towards balanced living, aligning our lifestyles with ancient wisdom to keep diabetes at bay.

Thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, are becoming increasingly prevalent in today’s fast-paced world. While modern medicine addresses these conditions with hormone replacement and other treatments, Ayurveda takes a holistic approach by focusing on balancing the body’s energies, known as *doshas*, and promoting long-term well-being. This ancient system of healing, rooted in classical texts like the *Charaka Samhita* and *Sushruta Samhita*, views the thyroid gland as a reflection of the body’s overall balance and metabolic health.

In Ayurveda, the thyroid gland’s function is closely tied to the throat chakra (*Vishuddha*) and the interplay of the Kapha and Pitta doshas. When these doshas become imbalanced, it can lead to either an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). The Ayurvedic approach not only aims to restore hormonal balance but also addresses lifestyle, diet, and mental well-being.

Understanding Thyroid Disorders in Ayurveda

Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland becomes sluggish, often due to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha. This results in symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, constipation, and depression. Ayurveda views this condition as an accumulation of heaviness and coldness in the body, requiring treatments that stimulate the digestive fire (*Agni*) and clear blockages.

On the other hand, hyperthyroidism, associated with Pitta imbalance, leads to excessive metabolic activity. Symptoms include anxiety, rapid weight loss, heat intolerance, and palpitations. Baidha Shree recognizes this as an overactivation of heat and energy, requiring cooling and soothing therapies.

Ayurvedic Treatment: A Comprehensive, Individualized Approach

Ayurvedic treatment for thyroid disorders goes beyond just targeting the gland itself. Instead, it focuses on harmonizing the entire body, mind, and spirit. This comprehensive approach includes personalized herbal formulations, detoxification therapies like Saptakarma, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle changes.

Detoxification Through Saptakarma

One of the most powerful tools in Ayurveda for addressing thyroid disorders is Saptakarma, a series of detoxifying and rejuvenating treatments. These therapies remove accumulated toxins (*ama*) that block the proper functioning of the thyroid gland.

For hypothyroidism, therapies like *Vamana* (therapeutic vomiting) and *Basti* (medicated enema) are used to clear excess Kapha and stimulate metabolism. In hyperthyroidism, *Virechana* (therapeutic purgation) is recommended to balance Pitta and reduce the excessive heat in the body. Saptakarma not only detoxifies but also rejuvenates the entire system, restoring equilibrium to the doshas and supporting overall well-being.

Lifestyle Adjustments for Thyroid Health

In Ayurveda, lifestyle changes are considered essential for healing and maintaining thyroid health. These changes are tailored to each individual’s unique constitution and dosha imbalances. For thyroid disorders, here are key lifestyle adjustments recommended:

1. Daily Routine (Dinacharya) : Following a regular daily routine, or *dinacharya*, helps maintain balance in the body. This includes waking up early, practicing oil pulling to detoxify, and following a consistent schedule for meals and sleep.

2. Yoga and Meditation: Specific yoga postures and breathing techniques can support thyroid health by improving circulation and stimulating the endocrine system. Poses such as *Sarvangasana* (Shoulder Stand), *Matsyasana* (Fish Pose), and *Halasana* (Plow Pose) are known to have a direct impact on the thyroid gland. Additionally, meditation helps reduce stress, which is a significant factor in both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

3. Stress Management : In Ayurveda, stress is seen as a major contributor to imbalances in the body, particularly for thyroid disorders. Practices like mindfulness meditation, *pranayama* (breathing exercises), and spending time in nature can help reduce stress and improve thyroid function.

Ayurvedic Diet for Thyroid Disorders

Diet is a cornerstone of Ayurvedic treatment, especially for thyroid disorders. The Ayurvedic diet is customized according to the individual’s constitution and specific thyroid condition, focusing on foods that balance Kapha or Pitta, depending on whether the person has hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.

Foods for Hypothyroidism (Kapha Balancing)

To counter the sluggishness of Kapha dosha, Baidha Shree recommends incorporating warming, stimulating foods into the diet. These include:

Ginger, cumin, and black pepper: These spices enhance digestion and boost metabolism.

Millets, barley, and quinoa: Light grains that are easy to digest and promote digestive fire.

Leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables: Although these should be cooked well, they help
detoxify and stimulate the thyroid.

Sesame oil and ghee: Both are considered nourishing but not heavy, helping stimulate Agni
without burdening the digestive system.

Foods for Hyperthyroidism (Pitta Balancing)

For hyperthyroidism, Ayurveda emphasizes cooling, soothing foods to calm the Pitta dosha. Recommended foods include:

Cucumber, melons, and avocados : These cooling foods pacify excess heat in the body.

Coconut water : This is a natural coolant and helps balance Pitta.

Bitter greens : Vegetables like dandelion greens and kale help reduce the overactivity of Pitta.

Cooling dairy products : Milk and ghee are recommended to balance excess heat but should be
consumed in moderation

Bridging Classical Wisdom with Modern Science

Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to thyroid disorders by addressing the root cause through diet, lifestyle changes, herbs, and detoxification. This approach not only restores thyroid function but also promotes overall health by balancing the body’s doshas and Agni. With growing research supporting the efficacy of Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari in regulating thyroid hormones, this ancient system continues to offer valuable solutions for managing thyroid health naturally.

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is becoming a major concern for parents around the world. With more and more children being diagnosed every day, many parents find themselves struggling to help their kids without resorting to medications that come with a host of side effects. Conventional treatments often focus on suppressing symptoms without addressing the root cause. This is where Ayurveda, the ancient science of holistic healing, steps in as a game-changer. Rather than labeling or stigmatizing children, Ayurveda focuses on restoring balance to the mind and body, offering a holistic yet effective approach to ADHD management.

Ayurveda’s USP for ADHD

Unlike conventional medicine, which often categorizes children into rigid diagnostic boxes, Ayurveda views each child as a unique individual. ADHD doesn’t look the same in every child, and Ayurveda recognizes this by focusing on the underlying dosha imbalance that manifests as ADHD symptoms. Whether it’s restlessness, impulsivity, inattention, or mood swings, these are all signs of an imbalance in the doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—that govern the mind and body.

Personalized Treatment: No One-Size-Fits-All

Ayurveda doesn’t just provide a one-size-fits-all solution. For instance, children with Vata imbalances may show symptoms like hyperactivity and anxiety, while those with Pitta imbalances might experience frustration and aggression. Children with a Kapha imbalance might seem unmotivated or sluggish. The goal of Ayurveda is not to label these behaviors but to understand and correct the root cause.

The first step in this healing journey is to address the child’s diet (Aahaar). In Ayurveda, food is medicine, and what a child eats has a direct impact on their mental state. Diets high in processed foods, sugars, and artificial additives can worsen ADHD symptoms. A balanced, wholesome diet tailored to the child’s specific dosha can have profound effects on their behavior and cognitive function.

Next comes Aushadh, or herbal medications. Ayurveda employs a variety of herbs like Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Shankhpushpi, yashtimadhu to help balance the mind and improve focus. These herbs are not just backed by tradition; they are supported by scientific studies showing their effectiveness. For example, In this study published in an International journal in 2008, Brahmi has been found to improve cognitive function and reduce impulsivity in children with ADHD (Calabrese et al., 2008). Similarly, Ashwagandha has been shown to enhance attention and reduce stress, making it a valuable tool in the Ayurvedic approach to ADHD (Choudhary et al.,2017).

Saptakarma: Rejuvenate & Regenerate

One of the most misunderstood aspects of Baidha Shree is Saptakarma, often thought to be a treatment only for adults for the purpose of detox. However, Saptakarma can be safely adapted for children when performed under the guidance of a qualified MD Baidha Shree doctor. This set of therapies cleanses the body, removes toxins, and balances the doshas, strengthens the nervous system and sharpens the senses, addressing the root cause of ADHD symptoms.

Treatments like Shirodhara (where tailored medicine is poured over the forehead) and Nasya (medicine administered through the nose) rejuvinate the nervous system, helping to reduce anxiety and improve focus. Abhyanga, a full-body massage with herbal oils, supports relaxation and reduces hyperactivity. Basti, another key Saptakarma therapy, involves herbal enemas that help detoxify and nourish the nervous system, especially beneficial for children with Vata imbalances. Various research support the effectiveness of Basti in improving cognitive function and behavioral symptoms in children with ADHD.

A ray of hope for Parents

As parents, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed when faced with the challenges of raising a child with ADHD. The constant worry about their future, their performance in school, and their social interactions can be exhausting. Ayurveda offers a beacon of hope. It’s not about quick fixes but about genuine, lasting healing that addresses the root of the problem and reaches to cellular level. Through personalized diet, natural herbo-mineral medicines, and therapies of Saptakarma, Ayurveda provides a safe, effective, and holistic way to support your child’s mental, emotional health and ensure healthy development.

**Disclaimer: Saptakarma and other Ayurvedic treatments should only be conducted under the supervision of a qualified MD Baidha Shree doctor to ensure safety and effectiveness, especially in children. Let’s move beyond labels and support our children with the healing wisdom of Ayurveda.

Kati Vasti

Kati Vasti is a traditional ayurvedic therapy that involves retaining warm medicated oil over the lower back or lumbosacral region.

It is mainly done to resolve various lower back issues, including chronic pain, stiffness, muscl spasm, and sciatica. The oils help in deep cleansing and enrichment of the blood, enhance the strength of muscles, and lubricate the joints, keeping them flexible and pain-free. Kati Vasti is very helpful with back pain relief as the nerves are nourished with warm oils, relieving the person from pain and numbness.

Janu Vasti

The Janu means Knee joint, and Vasti means to hold (compartment which holds). Thus, Janu Vasti means a treatment in which medicated oils are poured for a fixed duration of time in a compartment or a cabin constructed around the knee joint using wet flour of black gram. In simple words, Janu Vasti is a pain-relieving oil-pooling treatment conducted for knee pain caused due to many causes.

Benefits of Janu Vasti

● Osteoarthritis of the knee joint
● Arthrosis of knee joints
● Osteoporosis
● Arthritis changes
● Ligament tear
● Rheumatism
● Subluxation of the knee joint
● Chronic pain of the knee joint
● Ilio-tibial band syndrome
● Strains and sprains
● Post-trauma
● Degenerative disorder of knee joint

Griva Vasti

Griva Vasti is an Ayurvedic therapy where the Griva (nape of the neck) is subjected to a therapy called Vasti where warm medicated oil is placed over the nape. Vasti denotes “a compartment that holds” (in this case, a pool of medicated oil).

Griva Vasti is a procedure localized to treat diseases in the cervical region of the spine. It also has an effect on the upper back and shoulders. Essentially, warm, medicated, Dosha-specific oil is kept in contact over the skin of the neck for a particular time, using a compartment made of special black gram dough. This relaxing therapy has an extremely soothing and healing effect on the skin, muscles, joints, bones, and underlying structures. It is an effective therapy to treat cervical spine disorders. Your doctor will assess the disease condition and choose a herbal oil specific to your disease and Dosha imbalance.

The concept of psychosomatic illness, where emotions and mental states influence physical health, has gained significant traction in modern medicine. However, this mind-body connection forms the very foundation of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. This essay explores the concept of psychosomatic illness in Baidha Shree and Ayurvedic treatment for psychological disorders, drawing upon insights from classical texts like the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita.

Psychosomatic Illness in Baidha Shree

Understanding Psychosomatic Illness in Ayurveda

Baidha Shree emphasizes the interconnectedness of three fundamental aspects of human existence: Sharira (body), Manas (mind), and Atma (soul). The Charaka Samhita states, “The health of a person is the state where the body, mind, and senses are in perfect equilibrium” [Charaka Samhita, Sutra Sthana 12.10]. This equilibrium is influenced by the Doshas, three bioenergetic forces – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Emotional imbalances can disrupt these Doshas, leading to physical manifestations.

The Role of Doshas in Psychosomatic Illness

The Sushruta Samhita describes the mind as the “seat of all the senses” [Sushruta Samhita, Sharira Sthana 1.5]. Emotions like fear and grief are linked to Vata Dosha, while anger and jealousy can aggravate Pitta. Uncontrolled desires and attachment can disturb Kapha. These imbalances can manifest as physical symptoms such as digestive problems, skin conditions, or sleep disturbances.
Ayurvedic texts categorize diseases into three main types: Sharirika (physical), Manasika (mental), and Manodaihika (psychosomatic). Manodaihika diseases arise from mental disturbances that secondarily affect the body. The Charaka Samhita mentions, “Grief, fear, worry, and excessive indulgence in desires – these can cause various diseases” [Charaka Samhita, Nidana Sthana 1.14].

Ayurvedic Diagnosis and Treatment

The diagnosis of psychosomatic illness in Baidha Shree goes beyond physical symptoms. Ayurvedic practitioners consider the patient’s emotional state, sleep patterns, and lifestyle habits. Pulse diagnosis, a cornerstone of Ayurvedic practice, plays a crucial role in assessing the Doshic imbalances. Psychosomatic disorder treatment in Baidha Shree adopts a holistic approach. Shodhana (purification therapies) like Saptakarma can help eliminate accumulated toxins that contribute to Doshic imbalances. Shamana (pacification therapies) like herbal remedies, dietary modifications, and lifestyle changes are used to restore balance.

Practice Yoga and Meditation

Baidha Shree also emphasizes the importance of Manas Chikitsa (mental therapy) for treatment of psychosomatic disorders. Practices like yoga and meditation help calm the mind and manage stress. Additionally, spiritual counseling can address underlying emotional conflicts and promote emotional well-being.

treatment for Psychosomatic Illness in Baidha Shree

In conclusion, Baidha Shree offers a comprehensive understanding of psychosomatic illness, recognizing the profound influence of the mind on the body. By addressing the root cause of emotional imbalances and restoring Doshic equilibrium, Baidha Shree provides a holistic roadmap to healing, promoting not just physical well-being, but also psychological and emotional peace.

Uterine fibroids, benign tumors that often affect women of reproductive age, have become a prevalent gynecological concern. These growths, varying in size and shape, can manifest anywhere within the uterus. While some cases remain asymptomatic, many women experience discomfort and distress. In this blog, we delve into the symptoms, underlying causes, and a holistic Ayurvedic approach offered by Prakash Nethralaya to effectively manage uterine fibroids.

Uterine Fibroids

Unraveling Uterine Fibroid Symptoms:

Menstrual Menace – Heavy Bleeding (Menorrhagia): Excessive menstrual bleeding can lead to fatigue and anemia, impacting daily life.

Abdominal Anguish: Severe abdominal pain often accompanies fibroids, creating significant discomfort.

Battle with Cramps (Dysmenorrhea): Painful menstrual cramps are a common complaint, affecting routine activities.

Weighed Down – Abdominal Heaviness: The presence of fibroids can cause a sensation of abdominal heaviness.

Lower Back Lament: Uterine fibroids may contribute to persistent lower back pain.

Intimacy Challenges: Pain during intercourse can arise due to the presence of fibroids.

Unwanted Pressure: Women might experience a feeling of fullness and pressure in the lower abdomen, potentially impacting fertility.

Contributing Factors – Understanding the factors contributing to uterine fibroids:

Hormonal Harmony Disrupted: Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels play a pivotal role in fibroid growth.

Genetic Implications: A familial predisposition to fibroids can heighten the risk of developing them.

Weighty Matters: Maintaining a healthy weight is essential, as excess weight can influence fibroid development.

Harmonizing with Ayurvedic Wisdom and Treatment:

In Ayurveda, uterine fibroids are akin to “Granthi,” arising from imbalanced body humors localized in bodily tissues. The condition involves vitiated Rakta (blood), Mamsa (muscles), and Meda (fat) combined with Kapha, leading to the formation of hard, rounded swellings. Prakash Nethralaya embraces a holistic Ayurvedic approach grounded in breaking the pathogenesis (Samprapti Vighatana) and restoring equilibrium.

Core Elements of Ayurvedic Management:

Balancing Vata-Kapha: Herbal blends targeting Vata and Kapha doshas address the root causes of fibroid development.

Purifying Rakta: Blood-purifying therapies expel toxins, rectifying imbalances within the bloodstream.

Soothing Scrapping (Lekhana): Therapeutic methods, including lekhana, contribute to the reduction of fibroid size and impact.

Saptakarma: Comprehensive detoxification and rejuvenation therapies restore hormonal equilibrium, averting fibroid formation.

Botanical Remedies: Tailored herbal supplements further bolster the body’s innate healing capacities.

Cultivating Lifestyle and Diet: Personalized dietary and lifestyle adjustments play a pivotal role in sustainable management and prevention.

Conclusion:

Uterine fibroids can considerably disrupt a woman’s well-being, but Prakash Nethralaya’s holistic Ayurvedic approach offers a beacon of relief. By addressing root causes, restoring hormonal harmony, and integrating time-honored Ayurvedic therapies, women can find enduring respite from uterine fibroid symptoms. This natural approach not only provides an alternative to surgical interventions but also presents an avenue for complete recovery without recurrence.

Fistula is a significant medical ailment that can be both painful and debilitating for those who have it. It is one of the most prevalent disorders that affects the delicate region around the human anus and rectum, which extends up to the genitalia. It is also known as “Bhagandara” in Hindi. A Fistula causes a slight swelling in this sensitive area, as well as a painful discharge. As you can expect, this causes a slew of issues that can have a considerable detrimental influence on the patient’s lifestyle and day-to-day activities. What makes matters worse is that this is a recurring issue that is becoming increasingly difficult to treat.

Patients are sometimes hesitant to undergo invasive allopathic therapies due to the sensitive nature of the illness and the delicate region that it impacts. This is due to the fact that any side effects or unforeseen consequences of the treatment can bring their own dangers and concerns. As a result, patients frequently turn to Ayurveda, which offers a milder, but slower, style of medicine that can entirely solve the disease while also preventing relapses. Ayurveda has long identified the Fistula issue and has suggested both preventive and therapeutic methods. In this blog, we will look at how Baidha Shree cures Fistulas and how patients can use this ancient knowledge to successfully resolve this health issue.

Preventive Measures prescribed by Baidha Shree for Fistula

Prevention, according to Ayurveda, is always preferable to cure. Most problems can be avoided by acquiring sufficient nutrition, living a healthy lifestyle, and taking proper care. The development of an illness, according to Ayurveda, can be halted at several stages before the ailment manifests itself. To avoid Fistula, follow a balanced diet high in fibre and fluids, practise yoga, avoid junk food, avoid alcohol, and avoid sitting for lengthy periods of time.

Baidha Shree also suggests an Ayurvedic self-care programme that includes measures and activities such as Svasthavritta Palan, Ritucharyaa, Saptakarma, and others. These treatments and preventive therapies are intended to keep the Doshas, Dhatus, and Malas in balance, resulting in a healthy and balanced body. Regular contact with an Ayurvedic doctor or Vaidya can also aid in the early detection of imbalances, allowing for particular treatment and preventive measures to be implemented.

Curative Measures prescribed by Baidha Shree for Fistula

Once the Fistula difficulty is identified, Baidha Shree advises a variety of treatments to attack it, halt its progression, and assist the body in returning to a healthy state. Baidha Shree accomplishes this mostly through the use of herbs and formulations to treat Fistula that have been shown to be extremely helpful for the ailment. Triphla Churna, Jaharmohra Pishti, Akik Pishti, Gandhak Rasayan, Giloy Satva, Jatyadi Ghrita, Triphala Guggulu, and other ayurvedic formulations have been developed via trial and error over thousands of years and are the greatest weapons we have to treat the problem.

Aside from nutrition, Baidha Shree also advises a one-of-a-kind therapy for Fistulas called Kshar Sutra Therapy. This is a highly effective technique similar to Ayurvedic surgery. It removes whole pieces of skin with a medicated thread made from Ayurvedic herbs, allowing the area to heal naturally and become healthy. After the abnormal cells are removed in a certain manner, healthy cells and tissues replace them. Despite the fact that this is an invasive operation, patients are discharged from the hospital the same day. Some individuals may require multiple treatments to be completely cured.

best Ayurvedic Fistula Treatment

As a result, we can observe that Baidha Shree has different levels of therapies and treatments for Fistula based on the stage and severity of the condition. Because Baidha Shree is a holistic science that considers everything, the proper treatment is determined by a variety of criteria, including the patient’s other health conditions, comfort zone, and lifestyle. A good Baidha Shree Vaidya will consider all of these aspects before recommending the best course of action.

Where to Get treatment?

Fortunately, there are many contemporary and opulent Baidha Shree hospitals that offer safe, effective, and comfortable Ayurvedic treatment for Fistula and other critical ailments. The Baidha Shree in Delhi is one such facility. This hospital boasts a beautiful campus and world-class amenities, as well as a staff of doctors and Vaidyas that specialise in different aspects of Ayurveda.

The Vaidyas at Baidha Shree spend a significant amount of time examining patients, investigating their symptoms, and educating them about their condition and treatment choices. This method is ideal for illnesses requiring meticulous treatment, such as Fistula. The hospital’s IPD, or patient care department, is notably famous since the rooms are very beautifully constructed and elegant. This makes the Kshar Sutra Treatment more accessible to patients. To begin treatment, simply contact the Baidha Shree and schedule a consultation session. So the path to rehabilitation begins.
